CCS/TrackAddixGP Races - Mid-America Motorplex
May 28, 2006
It was a mixed bag for the team at our first race weekend of the year. Bike problems plagued everyone but Jarel. Clayton was completely sidelined after blowing a motor in morning practice. Shun's week-long electrical system battle continued to no avail. Trent had a good practice session, but ran into braking system problems in the afternoon that kept him from finishing a race. Shun borrowed Jarel's bike to race in Lightweight Formula 40, and won for the 2nd year in a row! Way to go Shun! He borrowed Trent's bike to race in Thunderbike, but that's when the braking problems appeared, he limped across the finish line in last place after riding 8 laps with no front brakes! Jarel ran Lightweight Superbike and had an uphill battle after going into Turn 1 dead last after missing 2nd gear during the start. He worked his way back up to 6th place by the end. Not bad for a start to the new season. Jarel also lined up in the Lightweight GP race and got a much better start, entering Turn 1 in 5th place. The 4th place rider went off the track on the 1st lap, moving Jarel up to 4th. He stayed in that position the entire race, but nearly chased down the 3rd place rider by the end, getting within a few bike lengths at the finish line. It was a very hot and windy day, but still a lot of fun and a good primer for the rest of the season. As always it was nice to see friends at the track, and we'll see you again at the next CCS TrackAddixGP round!
